Grace once again chose to have a swim party at our local pool. I am all for that type of party. They are the easiest to do: easy set up, easy clean up, and I don't have to find things to entertain them with. I can not believe my princess will be 6 years old on Wednesday. Honestly, where does the time go?!
Another awesome cake by Lillian.
Brooks was just chillin' at the pool.

Father's Day this year was pretty low key. Grace decided that she wanted to make her daddy breakfast in bed, so I woke her up early and we made him just that. Then we were off to church, had lunch at Outback and then took the kids swimming. All in all, it was a very relaxing day. My dad, bless his heart, had to work. So we took him to dinner on Saturday night and spent some time with him then.
I am so happy that summer vacation has finally arrived. I am getting to spend all day with Brooks and I am loving it. He is such a fun and happy baby! I absolutely can not get enough of you!
At your 6 month check up, you weighed 18 pounds, 14 ounces. You head measured 17 1/2 inches and you were 28 inches tall! Yes, 28 inches! Dr. Jennifer said that you are the average height of a 13 month old. You weight and head measurements were in the 70 percentile, but your height was off the chart!
You still wear size 3diapers. I imagine you will for a little while. Clothes you are wearing are almost all 9 months. There are a few 6 month things that fit you but not much.
Just within the past couple of weeks, you have become such a jabber box. You are making all kinds of sounds and you love to scream at the top of your voice to get every one's attention. You are saying "da" a lot and just this week have started to say "mom" or at least that what it sounds like to me! I will have to put on here also that you are saying "da da" now too. But, if we had to put what your actual "first" word was, I would have to say it is "Hey." You say that all of the time and over and over. I think it is because every time Taylor or Grace come up to you they say "Hey, Brooks." So, I think you have picked that word up easily.
You are eating quite a bit now. You love your cereal still. You have eaten: sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, pears, peaches, squash, garden vegetables. We are still adding stuff for you to eat, so you are working on a variety now. You still want a bottle every 3 to 4 hours and like to eat other things in between.
You are finally sleeping in your room, in your bed. Yes, all of your month pictures are taken in your bed and I finally gave in and moved you. I know it was way past time, but I just loved letting you sleep in the pack n play next to my bed. But, I moved you and you are still sleeping great. Thank goodness.
You are still a rolling machine. You can roll and scoot to pretty much any where you want. You are so laid back that you don't seem interested in crawling yet. We have caught you up on your hands and knees a few times, but you will just grin at us and drop back down. So, I guess we will see if you decide to become mobile soon or not. I are finally sitting on your own. I don't mean that you can get to a sitting position by yourself, but if I place you down you will sit there for a little bit before you topple over.
You still only have two bottom teeth, but man do you know how to use them. Your top gums are swollen and you still drool like crazy but who knows when those teeth will decide to come in.
Everyone that sees you comments on how pretty you are and how big your eyes are. It doesn't help that you know how to flirt also! The girls just love you! But who couldn't!
Your monthly pictures this time were quite interesting to take. You were definitely on the move most of the time, so I feel I did a pretty good job getting the ones I did.
Brooks, I say it every month, but I really don't know what I would do without you in our lives. You have added so much to our family. It is so amazing to me that something I didn't even realize I wanted could fill so much of my heart. I am cherishing every moment with you because I know that you are growing so fast, and time slips away right before our eyes. Thank you God for giving so a precious baby boy!
Taylor has been going to Kuk Sool Won for almost two years now. He really loves karate. He has advanced to a brown belt with a black stripe. On June 11th he attended a seminar in Clarksville. He attended the same seminar last year. For three hours the students work on techniques and moves. This year, JD and I got to go also and watch. We are so proud of him and his hard work and dedication.
One of the instructors came by and wanted his picture made with Brooks.

Well, school is out finally. Remember all those snow days, well that helped add to our school year so we did not get out of school until June 7th. Taylor and Grace did not go on the last day of school. They were ready for it to be over and who can blame them. Add to that an early start date this year, and we will have a very short summer. I am so ready to head to the beach and just relax but that is several weeks away still. We have been busy, baseball is ending (not sad about that ~ it's too hot), swimming has begun, and roads trips are in store. Our first road trip found us buying a new suburban. Totally not planned but worked out really good. And we all love it. I am looking forward to spending time with my kids and just doing nothing (well, doing what we want anyway). I love that we will not have to be on a schedule and can just go about our day as we please. Right now though I have to get little man to work on a better (later) sleep schedule. We were up at 6:15 this morning!
