At home again...

Once again, I am at home with my baby girl. We visited with the pediatric GI doctor on Tuesday and left there hopeful that Grace's symptoms would continue to improve with a change in her diet. We discussed all of her symptoms over the past two weeks, almost three weeks now, and the doctor felt like Grace's intestines were damaged from being sick during January and from the antibiotics she had to take. She thought the lining of her intestines just needed to heal. She gave us a specific diet to follow and thought this would improve what was going on. So we left there feeling better about everything. We had a good lunch at Applebee's in Little Rock and then headed home. Grace ate a really good lunch, something she really hasn't done in a while, ate a good dinner, and only had to go to the bathroom once, and that was right before bed. So the doctor said that would be improvement, especially since she was going over the weekend 12 to 15 times a day.

So off to school Grace went yesterday. Had a great day! Seemed more like herself, took her lunch, ate really good, had an appetitie when she got home, and ate good at supper last night. So I was really hopeful we were turning a corner and that the doctor in Little Rock was right, that with this diet her stomach/intestines would heal and she would be better.

Around 11 p.m. last night she woke up to go to the bathroom. Still thinking this was okay since she had not gone all day, I was not thinking anything was odd. But this continued ALL night long. She would wake up crying with her stomach and have to go use the bathroom. Between 11 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., she had to go 7 times and has continued all morning so far. This is the most pain she has been in so far. It is so hard to sit here and watch her grab at her stomach and not know what to do to help. I have called the doctor in Little Rock. She is doing procedures at the hospital today so they don't know what time I might hear from her. I have called our pediatrician and was told they have ran all the tests they know to run, wait for the LR doctor to call back and try some Tylenol for the stomach cramps! I don't know about you, but I didn't know Tylenol would help with stomach cramps. To say the least, I am not going to give her any Tylenol until I know something else. I am so frustrated right now and don't know what to do. I hate waiting around for the doctors to call back. I sometimes wonder if we took her to the ER if we could get some more answers. Maybe they would do something!!! I just want answers and no one right now can seem to give me any. I am trying to be patient but I have felt all along since this started almost three weeks ago, that something is just not right. I am praying that we will hear back from the doctor soon today!

Worried

The doctor's office finally called back today with Grace's test results and it showed MRSA in her stool. They are not sure if it is contamination or if it is really there. Today has been exhausting! I have been on the phone the better part of the day trying to figure everything out and anxiously awaiting some answers. First they told me that they had her scheduled with a pediatric GI doctor in Little Rock on March 2! I thought this was ridiculous! How in the world am I going to be able to wait until March 2 to find something out. Until then, they would wait for that doctor to call them with what course of treatment we needed to take. So I began my frantic search of the Internet trying to figure out what, how and why!! I am so frustrated with my pediatrician right now because it seems that they are not listening to me and that I am blowing it out of proportion but with this new result I feel justified in my rant!

By this afternoon, I was bent on calling them back and getting some more answers. As I was walking in the door, the phone was ringing and it was the doctor's office calling back. The doctor in Little Rock had a cancellation and we are able to go at 11:00 tomorrow. So they are cancelling the ultrasound she had scheduled for here tomorrow and we are going to see the specialist! I am very nervous but hopeful that we will get some answers!

I am praying that it is contamination but we must still find out what has been causing her stomach cramps and frequent trips to the bathroom. Please pray for my little girl that we will have some answers tomorrow!

Running Tests...

I started this post last week and as you can tell it never got posted, so I am playing catch up now.

We absolutely LOVED our four day weekend! It turned out to be a much needed rest! Friday night, JD and I had a date night. We dropped the kids off at my mom and dad's and then set out for sushi and a movie. We have tried Fuji twice but Shogun is still my favorite! I know a lot of people would disagree with me, but I just like it better. After a wonderful meal, we set out to see Dear John! I absolutely loved this movie! Probably one of my all time favorites. If you get a chance to see it, I totally recommend it!
So Friday night was great! JD and I had a lot of fun together and always look forward to our nights out!

I am struggling right now with my little girl! Grace has been complaining with tummy problems for almost two weeks now. This past week was pretty rough. We were off on Monday for Winter Break so I was able to stay home with her. We woke up to a beautiful snowfall on the ground but the roads were clear. We headed out to get our taxes done first thing in the morning. While getting our taxes done, which happily we are getting a return :), Grace complained the whole time. So I decided this had gone on long enough and made a doctor's appointment for that morning also. We got to the doctor's office, he listened to her chest (her cough had gotten worse) and then came back in with an antibiotic. I asked what he was treating her for and he said he could hear a crackling in her chest so her was going to put her on a stronger antibiotic. This really didn't make me happy since we are having so many tummy issues. And the tummy issues didn't seem to concern him. Still not feeling good about giving her the antibiotic, I called back to their office that afternoon with my concern over giving her the antibiotic when her tummy problems seemed to be getting worse, many trips to the bathroom if you know what I mean. So, they told me to lay off the antibiotic we were giving her (which she had been on since the previous weekend), give her 24 hours and then start her on the new one. They thought it was because of the antibiotic.

On Tuesday, when I picked her up from preschool, Mrs. D said that she had complained all day of her stomach hurting. It had been over a week since the hurting had started and since Saturday that the trips to the bathroom had become so numerous. So I called back to the doctor and they told me to take her to the clinic, they would draw blood, urine, and do some stool samples. Wednesday and Thursday, Grace spent with my mom and still continued to have the same problems. All the tests kept coming back negative. As of Friday afternoon, we were still waiting for a few cultures to come back. They have also scheduled her for an ultrasound on Tuesday morning. I am getting so frustrated right now. I thought on Friday we might have turned a corner. We had not had to go to the bathroom one time that day, until right before bed. But then yesterday morning, last night, and so far today, have been some of the worse she has had. I don't know what to do at this point. Thank goodness she is still up running around, playing, etc. She hasn't eaten much and as of Wednesday has pretty much been on the BRAT diet. I decided today that the BRAT diet wasn't helping so I am going to let her eat pretty much what she wants just so that I know she is eating.

Please pray for her and that we will find out what is going on. They have eliminated some things that would be really bad...Chrons', for one. I am going to call in the morning and see what else they think I need to do until Tuesday morning. She has lost two pounds which for me would be great, but not for her little body!

I think I am up to date now. It was snowing AGAIN this morning but that has seemed to stop now. I am enjoying my Valentine's Day at home with my wonderful family. JD and I have spent the past 17 Valentine's Day together. That is just hard to imagine. But I would not change a thing!

Here are a few pictures from the past week also!

God is GOOD!!

Just a quick update...my mom's tests results came back today and they were all negative!!! She does not have MS. She is going in the morning to the doctor to see what treatment they need  to do for the nerve irritation! So grateful for all the prayers!

On another note, Grace has complained now of a stomach ache since Tuesday morning. I don't know what to do about that. She has so many bowel problems and the nurse thinks it may just be one of those issues right now from being sick, doing the Tylenol suppository, etc. We are pumping her full of juice and Miralax right now trying to see if that helps. If it doesn't by Friday, looks like we will be back at the doctor with her! Pray that she gets some relief!
